I’m a long time fan of Lightroom, one of the most powerful, intuitive and powerful RAW image management systems I have ever used. But it falls a little short of my expectation.The only thing I wish is to maintain only one master file per channel (Colour, Black & White) instead of multiple files, especially for Landscape and Portrait shots. At present, I have learned to work with Lightroom processing albums by adding photos to it and processing these albums with different settings such as Exposure, Focus, Sharpening, Contrast and so on.

I’m not finding that my images are not being imported into the right folder. If you use the Keywords/Meta data importing feature and then categorize by pieces of keywords/meta data, you have the ability to merge/split colllections (groups of images with similar keywords). Maybe this will also allow you to do the same with images by colour, and even keywords, too… And the last two items on this list are lenses and shape. Lightroom supports several kinds of lenses, or focal lengths for photographers. They are 1, 2, 3 and 5 feet, and 15, 18 and 22 inches. And if you know your camera model, you can also use that in lenses and shape, too. These are two ways of dealing with your images, both automatic and manual. For me, Photoshop is about image editing. I can tell you, the interface however is very confusing to new users.

OK, so everyone is complaining about the slowness of the preview search until I provided the sample image. I realize that this can be considered a bug but what I find to be the case is that after upgrading to Lightroom 5.2, I noticed myself switching back to the quick search instead of going to the camera and search images. When using the preview search, there are no options to stop at the images I want. I have to tap on “Photoshop (searching)” and tap the portion of the screen I want the images from. And if I know I want “all images” for a project, then the quick search is not present on the context menu. Very strange.

Usually we don’t give any stars because we don’t aim to encourage new users to purchase a product. But, after reviewing this in-depth feature with a lightweight Lightroom that people typically use to extract Photoshop features into the Darkroom, it is clear that cannot be a reason to not review it. It is an amazing feature. So don’t miss this review!

Ever since I was able to afford my own computer, I never purchased a computer with less than 16GB of RAM. Most computers nowadays come with at least 8GB of RAM which is sufficient. The one nice thing about RAM unlike a processor is that you can replace the RAM and add more after purchasing it. However, make sure to check this as again, companies like Apple have made it impossible to replace the RAM in their computers. It is always worth double checking!

After upgrading to LR 5.2 I’m not able to use a project with more than 1500 D800 NEF files. While in previous versions the performance was all right I felt quite good the preview was faster and it was in fact an impressive performance. Because of the update (I think the update is called CS6, maybe you are working with another version?) my performance went in the opposite direction becoming painful. As I mentioned earlier I’m seeing that the reason is that I’m missing the DNG preview, while you mention it is not for the developer that is not the case. I’m saying because I haven’t found issues or any need for pre-downloaded files. I’m using the mountain Lion Update, maybe it does not work with the normal version, but in the case of updating from the Lion I think it is not necessary.
