Intimacy 2001 Torrent 720p
A gay couple decides to go to a nice restaurant for dinner. While making their reservation, they both notice that the name of the restaurant belongs to another couple and wonder if there’s a connection between the two of them and the restaurant. When they go to eat at the restaurant, they discover a series of strange coincidences between them and the couple that own it.
While a failure in several ways, Intimacy’s greatest achievement is that it addresses depression with a surprising degree of tenderness. It’s one of the few films to come directly out of the British independent cinema in the past decade, a time when British filmmakers seemingly made the decision to ignore the whole issue of men with depression. At least it’s something other than sex, drugs, and rock & roll.
It’s nice to know that more films are being made in which the characters are dealing with their emotions, especially within the world of sex and love. A shame it felt that it had to include nudity to accomplish this, but the overall feeling of the movie is good.
The alternatives to sex and drugs – however short edited or wrongly presented – are worth preserving, and the British independents have done well to keep discussing the issue they care about most.
Intimacy is a short film about love and the consequences that go along with it. You’d think it would be more depressing, but Anderson actually glosses over the more sinister side of the discovery process. The movie is centered around two couples who are fumbling their way through a relationship.
The movie is made primarily from voiceover interviews with the characters, as well as edited conversation between the two couples. These items, whether addressed directly or in conjunction with the couple, add up to others’ witnessing the relationship as it starts and evolves over time.
