Death Magnetic has led the Megadeth sales chart since its release, selling a total of 66,000 authorized units in the United States by the end of 2010, equivalent to about half of all metal albums sold (446,000). As of early 2011, the album is Megadeth’s fifth most popular album in the U.S. (after Rust in Peace, Youthanasia, and Countdown to Extinction and Countdown to Forever) with a total of 429,000 units sold.
